One of the owners of Alii Hale is half Hawaiian and grew up on
the Big Island of Hawaii. He roamed the beaches,
snorkeled the bays, fished the sea and hunted the
uplands before the Kohala Resorts were built and when Kona only had one hotel. He is an expert on the best
beaches, fishing and hunting on the Big Island. For the last 10 years, the other Owner, has shopped the Kona
and Kohala area for everything from clothes and art to real estate. They both scuba dive, boogie board and
frequent the area restaurants. They chose to build Alii Hale where it is because of the little beach across
the street, the warm Kona sun, and the proximity to so many activities.
Upon arrival, one should obtain the following free publications at the Kona airport, outside various grocery stores
or Longs Drug Stores, etc. This Week Big Island; Kona Gold; and Beach & Activity Guide Big Island. These
contain a lot of information and maps. The Beach & Activity Guide Big Island has several charts that
compare beaches and other activities. |
