Beaches

There are a few excellent white sand beaches on the Big Island, some black sand, some combination beaches and a green sand beach.  There are many rocky ocean entrances that are excellent for snorkeling and scuba diving.  Big Island beaches are beautiful and varied.  If you think only miles and miles of white sand beaches will do, then go to Maui.

Alii Hale is across the street from the ocean.  There is one row of houses between Alii Hale and the small private beach across the street.  The beach is only accessible by foot.  The public beach access is approximately 300 feet down the street from Alii Hale.  The following is a map, which shows the location of this beach and the walking trail to it.

This small beach is private and peaceful.  The snorkeling is good.  Sea turtles and many colorful fish frequent the water inside the rock reef.  The rocks outside the little bay shelter the beach, so it does not usually have big waves.  It is a great place for young children to play.  The Owners have taken their daughter there since she was born.
