Alii (ah-l-e-e) Hale (holly) is located on Alii Drive approximately half way between Kailua-Kona (Ka-lua) and Keauhou (Ke-a-ho). It is approximately 7 miles from Kailua-Kona to Keauhou, so Alii Hale is approximately 3 miles from Kailua.
The street address is 76-6185 Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740.
Alii Hale is located in one of the oldest subdivisions in the Kona area. It is an eclectic neighborhood of old island style bungalows, a few newer homes and oceanfront condominiums, beach houses, and multi-million dollar homes. Most of the neighboring homes on the mauka (mountain) side of Alii Drive are not vacation rentals. Many of these neighbors are people who work in the Kona area. You will see signs such as "rabbits for sale," "yard sale," etc. in this neighborhood. Some of the makai (ocean) side places are vacation rentals and others are owned by part-time residents who do not rent their homes. These people tend to be fairly quiet and keep to themselves. You probably will not see them very much. It is an extremely varied neighborhood. If being in a high class neighborhood is important to you, then staying at Alii Hale is probably not the right choice for you. If you do not need to rub shoulders with the "rich and famous" to have fun, then Alii Hale is probably right for you!
This is one of the warmest areas on the Big Island. Alii Hale is a place for sun lovers. People who want a cool climate should not stay here. |
